YOUR FIRST 15 MINUTES
A simple, security-first guide to setting up your Trezor hardware wallet. Take it one step at a time—your private keys stay offline, in your hands.
Start from a source you trust, make a little time, and keep your recovery backup private. The whole process takes about 15 minutes.
Use the cable that came in the box. Connect directly to your computer or compatible phone.
Have the included cards ready to write your recovery words by hand. Keep them private.
Download Trezor Suite only by typing trezor.io/start into your browser.
Why start with Suite Desktop? The desktop app is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, with features such as Tor connections and custom backend support. It is the recommended place to initialize and manage your device.
Follow the on-screen prompts in Trezor Suite. Your device will guide you through every important decision.
GET THE OFFICIAL APP
Visit trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Check the address carefully—never install wallet software from ads or third-party links.
CONNECT & VERIFY
Connect your Trezor and follow Suite's instructions to install the latest firmware. Choose Standard or Bitcoin-only firmware if prompted, then complete the device authenticity check. Next, choose to create a new wallet or recover an existing one.
YOUR MOST IMPORTANT STEP
Your device displays a sequence of 12, 20, or 24 recovery words. Write each one in the exact order on the supplied backup card, then complete the device's word verification. Store the card offline somewhere only you can access.
ADD A DEVICE LOCK
Choose a 4–50 digit PIN on your Trezor device to help protect against physical access. Once setup is complete, Suite will guide you through adding an account and receiving your first funds.
Instructions in Suite adapt to your device. Select yours to see a few connection notes before you begin.
Using a phone? Safe 7 supports iOS and Android via Bluetooth. Other models can connect to Android by USB-C; on iOS, other models are limited to portfolio tracking and receiving. Check Trezor's current compatibility details before starting.
THE ONE RULE THAT MATTERS MOST
Anyone with your wallet backup can access your crypto. Keep it offline and private—never enter the words into a website, app, chat, or support conversation. If a screen asks you to type them into your computer, stop and verify you're using the genuine Trezor flow.

More help at Trezor SupportThis is an independent getting-started guide, not the official Trezor site. For the authentic setup flow and software, type trezor.io/start directly into your browser and verify the address before downloading.
Trezor.io/start is the setup portal that guides you to the right resources. Trezor Suite is the application used to set up and manage your device and accounts.
Yes. Your wallet backup is what can restore access if your device is lost or damaged. Write the words in order, store them offline, and never share or digitize them.
Some third-party wallets, including MetaMask, Rabby, Electrum, and Exodus, support Trezor devices. Suite is the recommended starting point for setup and device management; check a wallet's official documentation before connecting it.
Reconnect the device, try another USB port, and use a data-capable cable. Check the official Trezor troubleshooting guidance at trezor.io/support for current connection instructions.
If you've safely stored your wallet backup, you can use it to recover access on a compatible replacement device. Only enter it during the genuine recovery process, and never into a website or support chat.
